LessThis short 4-mile loop combining the "Mustang Loop" and "Beginner Loop" trails is indeed the perfect place to take beginner mountain bikers! The singletrack here is smooth and almost entirely bereft of rocks and technical obstacles, allowing beginner riders to focus on the unusual feeling of riding a bicycle on a narrow dirt trail.
For a fun, quick ride on the southwest corner of Vegas, take Step Mom, Your Mom, and Alice for a spin. You'll find this short, beginner-friendly loop on the northern end of the Bear's Best trail system. This expansive trail system offers a serious spider web of interconnecting singletrack trails. It mashes into the Southwest Ridge trail system to such an extent that it can be difficult to tell where one trail system ends and the other begins.
The McCullough Hills trails provide a fantastic outlet for beginner and intermediate mountain bikers looking to enjoy endless trails looping through the desert without the brutality of negotiating the endless seas of sharp rocks that you'll find on many of the other trails near Las Vegas. McCullough Hills is also conveniently easy to access, with a well-developed trailhead, complete with bathrooms, located in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Henderson.
