A perfect example of programmatic architecture (when a building's outside represents the contents inside) the Donut Hole beckons all to drive through its chocolately archway and to indulge in a deep fried, sugary treat.

The Long Beach Dunkin' Donuts is unique among its 8,000 other siblings nationwide. It is the only one in the entire chain of shops to be graced with a giant donut on the top of its building. It's also a testament to the strength of the communitywho protested when they learned the 1950s pastry was to be demolished when the franchise took over the building in 2014.

Since 1952, the original Randy's Donuts in Inglewood, CA features a 32-foot-tall rooftop giant donut and is widely known as the most recognizable donut shop in the world. It's no wonder this iconic, larger than life pastry has been featured in "Mars Attacks," "Get Shorty," "Futurama," "Iron Man 2," and "Californication" - among many other movies and TV shows.

Not only is this one of the five remaining 32-foot giant donuts of the original 1950's chain Big Donut Drive-In--but it's the very first. Today, it's called Kindle's and is known for its enormous Texas Glazed donut, befitting for the historic building.

Formerly Big Donut Drive-In, this 32-foot donut now sits atop Donut King II (heir to the throne after Donut King the First?) in Gardena.

The second giant Randy's rooftop donut showed up on the scene in 2020. This location in Downey, CA is very similar to its big brother in Inglewood, serving up the same delicious donuts without the fanfare of the original location. Mmm...donuts!

A little further south on the 405, you'll find the third in the series of Randy's giant donuts. This location was established in 2021 and, like its brother and sister locations, this donut shop features a 32-foot-tall giant donut on the roof of the building. We truly are living in the golden age!

Once a Bellflower location for the Big Donut Drive In, the giant snack atop the building has undergone an extreme bagel makeover.
