The sole cable car amongst the main Nordkette peaks, the Nordkettebahn is the only way of getting a lift into the hills north of Innsbruck. There's a train from Innsbruck centre to the foot of a cable car, which in turns runs in 2 stages and quickly whisks you to over 2300 metres.

The start point for the long and wild "Seefeld to Hochzirl" hike, Seefeld is a charming Tirolian tower with lovely restaurants, quaint streets and gorgeous views.

When you've done the fabulous "Seefeld to Hockzirl" hike, Hochzirl train station will be a very welcome sight! The station is picturesquely nestled in the trees and there's a train roughly every half hour to whisk you into Innsbruck.

A beautiful Tirolian town and the access point for the wonderful Halltal valley, Hall in Tirol is worth visiting regardless of whether you want to hike, bike or stroll around the shops. The huge journey up to the Bettelwurf Hut begins and ends in Hall.

A high, wild hut which is perched in a seemingly impossible spot above the Halltal valley, the Bettelwurfhütte is truly spectacular. It can't be reached without significant effort but luckily it serves great food to replenish the calories burned reaching it.

A true Innsbruck landmark, the Pfeisshütte is a popular destination for those seeking a challenging and scenic day hike. The food is superb, the welcome is warm and the views are utterly breathtaking.

This is a true classic of Innsbruck and takes you to one of the most celebrated mountain huts in the region - the Arzler Alm. The hut can be reached by following a good jeep track (check out our "Arzler and Umbruggler Alms Loop" bike route for directions) or by taking this slightly tougher but much more enjoyable hiking trail.

A steep and strenuous hike to one of the best situated huts in Tirol. The view from the terrace has to be seen to be believed and it's a great spot to sit and pick out various landmarks.
