After moving to Nashville almost a decade ago, Maren Morris has fully embraced her new hometown. The GRAMMY-winning superstar celebrates the release of her new single, "Circles Around This Town," by listing some of her favorite spots in Music City.
Less"Grimey’s is a Nashville institution at this point. It’s one of the best places in the city to hunt for vinyl; old and new. They even sometimes have in-store live performances. I could spend hours thumbing through their record shelves."
"Holly Williams [Hank Williams’s granddaughter] owns this general store, and it’s one of my favorite places to buy gifts and stock up on my candle addiction. Everything from great bags, skincare, to quintessential 'Nashville' souvenirs can be found here. Plus, it’s just so damn cute inside."
"If you’re looking for speakeasy vibes, the Fox is the place for you. It’s dark and moody inside but inviting. I usually meet a friend at the bar for drinks and order an espresso martini and their smoked goat cheese. They also have a great non-alcoholic martini if you’re needing a break from booze or just want to enjoy a delicious alternative for the evening."
"If you can’t fit a show in at the Ryman during your Nashville stay, at least go for a daytime tour to experience the 'Mother Church’s' stained-glass windows in the sunlight. I have seen and performed some of my favorite shows at the Ryman. I met Sheryl Crow for the first time there years ago, and we hatched a beautiful friendship ever since. That place is truly magical and not just for its rich country music history (it is the original Grand Ole Opry)."
"This place has a little bit of everything: addictive pork belly street tacos, delicious spicy margaritas, and great people watching. I always see a friend when I’m there. Pro tip: Put their green hot sauce on everything you order. You can thank me later."
"This historic movie theater is almost one hundred years old! The first date my husband and I ever went on was here. We saw 'End of the Tour' and bawled our eyes out. Go catch a film one afternoon and then do some walking around afterwards for some fun shopping on 21st Ave."
"This is undoubtedly the original hot chicken spot. Many have followed, but Prince’s is the OG. The rule when ordering what level of heat for your chicken is: Don’t be a hero. Do NOT order 'XXX Hot' to impress your friends if it’s your first visit. I love spicy and I order the 'Mild,' which is plenty."
"When my husband and I used to live in East Nashville, Lockeland Table was our neighborhood restaurant. We’d be in there maybe three times a week. They make great wood-fired pizzas, perfectly crispy empanadas with chimichurri sauce, and the entire atmosphere inside feels very familial. Since it’s right in the middle of a cute residential neighborhood, our favorite thing to do on Halloween was grab an early dinner and watch all the trick-or-treaters go by. It’s the absolute sweetest."
"Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states I’ve ever lived in, and Radnor is Nashville’s crown jewel. It has tons of great walking trails and paved trails if you’re pushing a stroller, plus, a stunning lake to walk around with your hot coffee in hand. My personal favorite season to take a walk at Radnor is in the fall when our trees are fiery orange and the air is perfectly crisp. You’ll find some great spots for photos of wildlife as well."
"If you’re a coffee snob like myself, Ugly Mugs is a perfect balance of having great coffee yet being completely unpretentious. I love getting an outside table on sunny days and bringing a book with me. A lot of my songwriter friends live around there, and it’s a great coffee date when I need to catch up with them when I’m off the road."
