6AM : Make your way up to the terrace on the Janiculum Hill, on Piazza Garibaldi, and watch the sun rise over the Eternal City. Absolutely breathtaking either as a Stendhal-inspired moment or a scene from Sorrentino’s film The Great Beauty.
7AM : Wander down to Prati for breakfast at the venerable Sciascia Caffè, almost a century old and still serving the best cappuccino and croissants in town.
8AM : Get lost in the old-fashioned aisles of Castroni, Rome’s celebrated gourmet grocery store, where the unhurried can explore an astronomical quantity of diverse and varied products typical of Italian gastronomy. A treat for the eyes – but above all, the stomach.
9AM : Jog along the paths of the Villa Borghese while listening to Respighi's symphonic poem The Pines of Rome on your headphones.
11AM : Enjoy a massage at the Six Senses Spa, the crème de la crème of wellness destinations, nestled in the all-new hotel of the same name – an outstanding regenerative experience that sets you up for the day.
NOON : Visit the Centrale Montemartini, a former power station turned museum of Greco-Roman sculpture. In the machine room, the white marble contrasts with the omnipresent black metal. Superb.
1PM : Take lunch in the street, like so many Romans, by sinking your teeth into the tasty pizzas from the Casa Manco stand inside the Mercato Testaccio, a market that alternates fruit and vegetable stalls and gourmet street food stands.
3PM : Grab a coffee in the Oppian Hill Park at the historic Di Nunzia kiosk, well known by the locals in Rome for having the best view of the Colosseum.
7PM : Take a seat in the flowery patio of the Hotel Locarno for a Negroni, a glass of sparkling wine or other aperitif potation, while celebrities and well-known actors are interviewed by journalists from around the world. The new rooftop deserves a visit, but it's only for hotel guests or private functions booked in advance.
9PM : Dine at Retrobottega, perched – elbow-to-elbow – at the high “social” tables of this new restaurant where the cuisine is creative and recreational. Elegance, style and faux simplicity – a winning trio.
