LessCrumbville and its owner, Ella, are staples in the Third Ward community. In addition to baking and selling cookies, stuffed cups, and brownie bars (with vegan & gluten-free options), Ella welcomes local budding entrepreneurs to have pop ups in her store. Get here early before everything is sold out, then enjoy your goodies at Emancipation Park across the street. Have you ever had to choose between banana pudding, cheesecake, or pecan pie? Well, you can get all three with a slice of the Third Ward Classic cake. Patrice Farooq, owner and former math teacher, started Cupcake Kitchen as a bakery. Then it expanded into a restaurant that specializes in soul food and seafood. Along with their cookies, cupcakes, and cake, try the salmon & shrimp bowl or the lemon pepper wings. Pictured: Banana Pudding Cake.
If I could live here, I would - surrounded by gelato, cookies, milkshakes, croissant sandwiches, waffles, smoothies, and more. It’s truly dessert heaven. Make this fast and casual dessert bar your go-to spot for hanging out with loved ones or for studying and getting work done. Pictured: Lemon Cream Cake.
Located in Houston’s oldest Black neighborhood, this farmers market has primarily Black owned businesses selling organic produce, bread, baked goods, juices, honey, home goods, and more, every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. Sade Perkins founded this market to provide better access to fresh and local foods. She hopes that it will serve as a gathering space for the community where neighbors can get to know each other.
