Mt Albert Edward is a popular objective on Vancouver Island and for good reason. It has a very well maintained trails up to Circlet Lake and offers a wide range of scenery. With lush green meadows, wildflowers, lakes and alpine views, you really do get it all on this trail. Thanks to the great trail maintenance here, this hike is very accessible, although it's certainly not easy. At over 30km in length with over 1000m elevation gain, this is a challenging hike that requires good fitness.

The hike begins with a nice scenic trail through the forest, which has great views of the blue waters of the Elk River, and lots of wild flowers if you go in the right season. This is a long and difficult day hike, or can be done as a moderate- difficult overnight hike.

If you're looking for a more challenging hike in Strathcona Provincial Park, Kings Peak needs to be on your to do list. This trail has a great mix of terrain., You begin the trail with a short hike through the forest which will lead you to a logging road, this is where the real workout begins.
