Experience the epic beauty of soaring sandstone arches in one of America's most famous national parks.
LessThe soaring sandstone arches found in the park are some of the largest and most impressive on the planet! You’ve undoubtedly seen images of the ultra-famous Delicate Arch, even if you didn’t realize it at the time. But Arches National Park is home to so much more than just Delicate Arch, with a plethora of strange and beautiful arch formations and weather-worn sandstone rock sculptures. This guidebook rounds up both the most famous hikes in Arches, along with some of the most under-rated hikes.
Delicate Arch is one of the most photographed arches anywhere, but be prepared to be patient if getting the perfect shot is the goal. It is worth remembering that, literally, the entire world wants to see Delicate Arch as much as you do! Like so many destinations in National Parks, Delicate Arch is worth the time to be patient and simply soak it all in.
The Devil's Garden trail is the most difficult maintained trail in Arches National Park. Only Fiery Furnace—the unmarked, unsigned, and unmaintained scrambling area—is more difficult… until you get into full-on rock climbing and bouldering, that is.
Looking to beat the crowds that swarm Arches National Park every day of the year? Then head to Tower Arch, one of the most remote arches in the park! While Tower Arch is technically still located in Arches National Park, it's way, way off the beaten track. You'll have to follow dirt roads out into the far reaches of the park to reach the trailhead. Despite the dirt road driving, the easternmost trailhead can still be accessed by most two-wheel-drive vehicles.
If you're looking for a short, easy hike in Arches National Park with a massive payoff, it's tough to beat the short jaunt to Double Arch!
