LessBlue Mountain Reservation is the top mountain biking destination in the Hudson River Valley. From fun, flowy singletrack to massive rock slabs, there's no doubt you will come back for more. With minimal signage and countless side trails, this park can be hard to navigate at times. Stick to this loop to see the best of the advanced trails without backtracking or riding the same one twice.
Located in Woodbury, Stillwell Woods is one of the top mountain biking destinations on Long Island. With beginner, intermediate, and expert loops, this trail system has something for everyone.
Located just 15 minutes off of the interstate, and within an hour of most suburbs, Sterling Forest is one of the best year-round trails in southern NJ. With plenty of technical lines, beautiful forests, tree gates, and dramatic rock formations, this is one ride that will never get old. Officially completed in 2018, this 7-mile loop has been in the works for a long time.
The trail combination of Breakout to Domboo, linked here, is one of the best intermediate runs on the mountain. Mountain Creek is also renowned for even more technical, expert-level runs.
Built and maintained by the Valley Mountain Bikers, this loop samples the best trails in Walking Purchase Park—widely known as "Sals." Though the elevation gain seems marginal on paper, you have to earn every foot of it. Rock gardens, log rolls, narrow bench cuts, and armored switchback climbs all combine to make this one of the top go-to rides in eastern Pennsylvania.
Ringwood State Park is home to New Jersey's most intricate trail network. Designed and maintained by JORBA, this renowned ~7-mile mountain biking loop serves as one of the staple rides in the area. This loop originates at the Shepherd Lake Recreation Area. You begin with a short ride along the 10-mile-long Ringwood-Ramapo Trail that dissects the state park.
The historic Graham Hills Park is the premier mountain biking destination near New York City. Less than an hour from Manhattan, this 431-acre park is one of only three county parks in Westchester County open to mountain bikes.
Built along the shore of Lake Nockamixon, this trail system is less than two hours from both NYC and Philadelphia. Affectionately referred to by the locals as "Nox," this series of stacked loops is fast, flowy, and perfect for singlespeeders. While there are no major climbs, the trail is a roller coaster ride through ravines, washes, and bench cuts flanking the shore. The hard-packed clay and sand soil composition makes this trail incredibly fast when dry, but un-passable when wet.
