J Balvin changed Latin music with his sound and style. With his new album, ‘Jose,’ just released, the Colombian artist gave us the rundown of his favorite spots in New York.
LessI love Domino Park because it’s a wonderful place where I can clear my head, with beautiful views, and it also has a lot of history. The last time I was there was in February 2021. I always remember the colored steps that were there the first time I visited. I’d love to see some pieces from my favorite artists as installations throughout the park—something maybe along the lines of KAWS doing an exhibition or some kind of sculpture on location.
I love the restaurant. I love the meat and their technique for cooking it. Service is amazing. I’m very good friends with the owner, and I truly believe it’s one of those restaurants where the experience matters above all else. The place has great meat variety, with many options for a memorable meal with friends and family. My favorite plate is the beef sushi rolls.
I’m an Italian food fanatic, and Carbone is my No. 1 choice on Sundays (my usual meal cheat day). The service is spectacular and the pasta even more so. If people are looking for a great Italian restaurant, this one is it.
The High Line is a great place to let all of your stress melt away with a good, long, scenic walk with your closest family and friends. The continued support for artists whose work is spread throughout the walking route is really important.
I have always loved the brand, and have always identified with it.
The SoHo LV store is one of my favorite places to shop. Lina, who works there, has always given us great attention. I love going there not only because it’s one of my favorite brands, but also because there’s a special place for me to go and check out their new collections.
Bowling with my friends and family is one of my favorite things to do on my “off” days. This place is special, not only because it’s a big and comfortable space, but also because the food is good and varied. It has everything to make your afternoon enjoyable and different.
Sky’s the Limit Skydiving Center is one of my favorite places right now. This is a place where I can go skydiving with my friends, or parachute jumping. One of the most important things for me about this place is that almost all the instructors are Latin American, and some of them are even from my country, Colombia.
I go to Starbucks to read and have a very good cup of coffee with my friends. If you’re around there on Sundays, you’ll probably spot me.
Central Park is such an iconic, spectacular place, and so full of life. I love to go there to ride my bike or with Enzo. I have a lot of great memories there. One that stands out is the time when we shot the video with Jhay Cortez.
