When he’s not in the SoHo section of NYC shooting Sneaker Shopping, Joe La Puma, the show’s host, is browsing his favorite streetwear and sneaker spots, and some food spots along the way. Here are his staples.
LessThe clothing in the store has established Aimé Leon Dore as one of the most consistent labels in streetwear with every new seasonal drop, but what’s happening outside has turned Aimé into one of the best places to hang out. Visit Mulberry Street on an early evening or Sunday afternoon and you’ll see how much of a spot it’s become in Little Italy. Try the Freddo espresso from the café.
The three-story flagship has all the latest offerings from your favorite brands and the ever-changing items from the in-house label. Whether it’s KITH’s new collection or its left-of-center collaborations, there’s always something to browse. I like going in here and getting great sneakers for retail, like the latest Nike Zoom Flys. Also, stop by the KITH Treats section on the second floor and try the “JLP” ice cream.
We’ve shot so many episodes of Sneaker Shopping here, and it’s always fun to go to the store when I’m not “on set.” On the weekends, it gets super packed, and I like popping in to see what sneakers customers are gravitating to. We’ve shot some classic episodes in here: Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Tyra Banks, Gucci Mane, Chris Rock, and more.
This is right around the corner from KITH, so after work I meet up with some of my friends who work there at this lounge. As the night goes on, they play better and better music. Great atmosphere with awesome food. The Big Eye Tuna Tarts are life-changing.
