Andy and Edie Baker opened Chocolate Fish downtown in 2008, inspired by the espresso culture in their native New Zealand. The East Sac location on Folsom and 48th is where Chocolate Fish roasts coffee, with a meticulously-designed floorplan that allows patrons to watch roasting in action. Besides a full menu of award-winning coffees, the must-try item here is their nitro flash brew.

From homemade fresh Belgian-style Liege waffles to beautiful house-roasted coffee, The Mill is a popular cafe in Sacramento’s Lavender District, near the local farmers markets. Look for seasonal drink specials like the Wildwood flower latte or the Root Beer Espresso Float.

The coffee at Camellia is stellar, but the food (all made in-house) is unlike any other coffee shop in town: it’s all about the pie. They make all the food in-house and partner with a variety of farms across the region as providers.
