From open-air bars to panoramic restaurants, here are the MICHELIN Guide’s favourites.
LessIt's not quite a rooftop, but this restaurant perched at the top of La Samaritaine and part of the magnificent Cheval Blanc hotel, has a vast panoramic terrace affording breathtaking views over the River Seine and the centre of Paris. The menu takes its cues from Italian cuisine putting fish and seafood in the limelight — always a hit in the heat of summer!
The rooftop bar at the Kimpton Saint-Honoré hotel, close to Opéra Garnier, promises both a superb view of the capital and a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle below. It's the perfect verdant place for a cocktail high above the city, especially when the sun sets between the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. It's hard not to succumb to the temptation of a glass of champagne, but try one of the house cocktails...
This hotel in the centre of Paris, equidistant from Montorgueil, République and the Marais areas, is a popular pied-à-terre for creatives visiting the city. The Herbarium cocktail bar on the ground floor is particularly popular, but it is the hotel's rooftop bar that attracts the crowds in summer. From its vast terrace, the view over the rooftops of Paris is absolutely incredible, as are the irresistible cocktails served there.
Since it opened in 2022, SO/Paris has consistently been winning over anyone with a weakness for beautiful views over Paris. This glass-clad tower on the banks of the Seine has been completely renovated and refurbished to create a comfortable hotel, with a decor incorporating elements from designer furniture to contemporary works of art. While the guestrooms boast a superb view of the Île Saint-Louis, the panoramic 15th-floor rooftop venue truly reaches new heights.
The sixth floor of a beautiful Haussmann building on Avenue George V is home to this restaurant. In keeping with its fashionable neighbours within Paris's Golden Triangle, it serves haute-couture cuisine in the form of masterful takes on the French classics (along with a touch of originality). Chef Frédéric Verdon makes no bones about scouring every corner of France in search of the country's best produce and builds relationships with those producers.
The Peninsula Hotel's L'Oiseau Blanc is one of those rooftop restaurants that has more than its fair share of foodie fans. It could be the contemporary French fare from David Bizet and the delectable desserts from Anne Coruble, one of the most promising pastry chefs of her generation, but we think it’s the glass-paneled roof and incredible views from the Eiffel Tower to the Sacré Coeur.
It is impossible not to mention this rooftop restaurant commanding staggering views over eastern Paris as it was one of the first to appear on the capital's skyline. Never short on ideas, Le Perchoir has recalibrated to focus on gastronomy, welcoming some of the most fashionable chefs in residence.
From Los Angeles to Lille, Mama Shelter hotels often boast their own stunning rooftop bar. Mama Shelter Paris West's version, perched on the eighth floor, is no exception to the rule: with its view over the whole of the south of the capital, it ranks among the most spectacular. Signature cocktails, DJ sets and a small selection of comfort food options are, as usual, on the menu – everything you need for a good night out or even a celebratory occasion.
This designer hotel close to rue de la Pompe in the 16th arrondissement boasts a number of highly recommended restaurants and popular bars. The hotel's rooftop bar is a unique place to enjoy a drink and an unbeatable view of the capital, with the Eiffel Tower in your line of vision. You can look forward to excellent cocktails by Jeremy Bacquet, served between the hotel's vegetable garden and henhouse, for an original and refreshing experience, especially when Paris is in the grip of a heatwave.
