Rising pop sensation Tate McRae proudly calls Calgary, Canada her home. She pays homage to her hometown and the experiences that shaped her on the track "Calgary" from her sophomore album. Here are some of her favorite spots in the city.
Less"The perfect place to pick up a salad, have lunch with your friends, grab a kombucha or just have a smoothie after a workout! Definitely one of my faves! You cannot go wrong with the Kale Caesar salad!"
"Memories at Barry’s are bitter sweet! During the class we want it to end but it feels so good after ! Definitely one of the hardest workouts I’ve ever done. Love going with my dance friends. Our favourite part is the smoothie bar after!"
"No matter if I am in Calgary for a weekend or a month - I get my nails done at AmanaiL. They are fast and professional and I can always get in. The place is cute and I always run into someone I know from my past!!!"
"This was my go to spa growing up. The best facials, spray tans, nails and coconut popcorn!!!! If you need some pampering this is the spot! They are so friendly- the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. I definitely would recommend a visit if you have time! The facials are 100%!"
"Good old Earls. A definite Canadian spot. Easy, casual, great food and always lively! Have been here many nights with my girlfriends- celebrating bdays, just catching up or just sharing a desert! So many memories on the patio in the summertime. Brings me back to high school!"
"This is a general location- but so many fun things happen on the Stampede Grounds. First the Flames play at the Saddledome- who does not like a good hockey game? My brother plays hockey- so hockey has always been part of our family! As well the Grounds are home to the famous Calgary Stampede- which is a 10 day party that you need to attend to understand. The city turns cowboy, there’s live country music everywhere, and it’s like a never ending party with everybody."
"I first went to Gretta Bar for a magazine photo shoot! I was still underage, but the bar is fun and colourful with so many arcade and bar games. There is a basement with a dance floor and more games. When I turned 18 of course I had to go! It is just a fun place to hang with a group of friends! The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is great."
"This ice cream shop is in the neighbourhood I grew up in! It has the best ice cream and is always lined up. I have amazing memories biking to Village with my friends in the summers!"
"This place is fairly new in Calgary and quite a ways from our house, but it brings back so many memories! I celebrated my 18th birthday here with my family and best friends, celebrated my dads 50th and my brothers commitment to Dartmouth! The best steakhouse in Calgary- it overlooks a lake and the ambiance feels like you are in a NYC or LA restaurant! I love It here! The truffle Mac and cheese is to die for!"
"The best part of Calgary is that you are so close to the mountains! Hiking, skiing, golfing- all about an hour away from downtown. I grew up going to Nakiska when we had a free day trying to get a half day of skiing in between our crazy schedules! The toboggan park is so fun and a definite must visit in the winter! Definitely feels like you are on a holiday."
