If you’re tired of feeling trapped indoors and are ready for some fresh air, Seattle’s beautiful parks offer great opportunities to get out and explore. Here are some of the most popular Seattle parks that are only a Lyft ride away.
LessJust a 12-minute Lyft ride from downtown on Queen Anne Hill, Kerry Park is where to head for one of the best views of the city. Get set to take some Insta-worthy snaps — it has an unobstructed view of Central City and Elliott bay, with the backdrop of Mt. Rainier on a clear day. At night, you can take in the city’s skyline, lit up by the iconic Space Needle.
Gas Works Park was once 19.1 acres industrial land, but today it features endless grassy fields against the gorgeous backdrop of Lake Union and views of Seattle, and is only a 15-minute Lyft ride from downtown. While some rusted towers and pipelines remain, they now add a unique charm to this green outdoor picnic spot. Bring a kite to blend in with the locals on windy days, and no visit is complete until you find the giant sundial — you can use your own shadow to tell the time!
Don’t limit your exploration of Seattle’s waterscapes to Puget Sound. Green Lake Park is a haven for water lovers, and is only a 15-minute Lyft ride from downtown. According to geologists, the same glacial ice sheet that formed Puget Sound carved out the lake’s basin 50,000 years ago. Today, a 2.8-mile trail encircles Green lake, which functions as a preserve for Seattle’s native birds, trees, and plants.
Kubota Garden is one of Seattle’s most peaceful places to simply wander. Japanese landscaper Fujitaro Kubota, who pioneered the use of Japanese garden techniques to grow plants in the Pacific Northwest, founded it in 1927. Today, it features fixtures such as a reflection pond, hundreds of maple trees, and an endless array of gorgeous plants. Check ahead if you want to bring some of Kubota Garden’s beauty home with you — the staff runs spring and fall sales on plants in the garden’s nursery.
When the sun comes out in Seattle, it’s time to head to Alki Beach, a short 15-minute Lyft ride from downtown. Alki offers incredible views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Blake Island, but there are some other interesting landmarks around the beach, too. Check out the small replica of the Statue of Liberty and a huge anchor salvaged by the Nor’West Divers’ Club.
