LessConsidered one of the great cathedrals of soccer in North America, Providence Park is the home of the Portland Timbers and the NWSL’s Portland Thorns FC. Nearly a century old, the historic stadium has played host to Pelé’s last professional match, Elvis Presley concerts, baseball games, college football showdowns and even a ski-jumping competition. While the old bones scream Rose City sporting history, Providence Park recently enjoyed a state-of-the art expansion in 2019.
The club's official team store, PTFC Authentics is the place to find the lates club jerseys and apparel. Located on the northwest corner plaza of Providence Park, PTFC Authentics is open on both matchdays and throughout the week.
Named for the crazy 2015 MLS playoff penalty kick shootout win over Sporting Kansas City that saw a KC shot defy physics to bounce off both goal posts and safely out, thus helping preserve the Timbers’ victory and spark the team’s run to their first MLS Cup triumph, this North End drinking spot has the largest selection of draft beer and cider on the concourse in Providence Park.
A popular mode of transportation on matchdays, this TriMet light rail MAX station is located just off the northeast corner of Providence Park. It provides easy access both into and out of the stadium and is among the most convenient ways to get downtown to see a game. TriMet runs increased service on matchdays.
For those driving downtown, this Smartpark – the City of Portland’s public parking system – is among the closest to Providence Park. From here, it’s about a 15 minute walk through the city to the stadium, or you can also hop on a MAX train to zip up to the field.
A classic Irish pub, this NW 21st Avenue location is located just five minutes away from Providence Park. With a roaring fire inside during the colder months and outdoor seating available in the summer, this friendly and inviting hideaway includes its own brews on site as well as plenty of Guiness and delicious Irish pub food staples. It’s a great place to hit for both pre- or post-game activities.
Need a quick pick-me-up before the match, Dutch Bros Coffee - a club partner - is practically across the street from Providence Park with coffee classics and cold brew concoctions available for fast grab-and-go to get you set ahead of the game.
A longtime local spot, Elephants specializes in gourmet sandwiches, hot food, bakery goods and more all from scratch. Snag a box lunch to go and be sure to include one of their trademark cookies.
Despite its pitching-inspired name – a relic to when Providence Park played host to minor league baseball – this popular bar located just across the way from the stadium is steeped in Timbers soccer fandom. The walls and ceiling include numerous Timbers scarves and the back outdoor patio has a wall mural of NASL and Portland legend Clive Charles and other Timbers greats.
This little gem is a short corner kick away from the northeast entrance to Providence Park, with Portland beer on tap along with local cider and wine available. Find a seat on the sidewalk and watch the mass of fans clad in green and gold make their way towards the stadium on gamedays.
