The beauty of our national parks has a unique way of inspiring creativity. Join Arden Records artists as they share how the sights, sounds, and silence of these majestic lands instilled energy and serenity in their music, one park and song at a time.
Lessclay house: “After spending time in Haleakalā National Park, I was inspired to create my song ‘Keep It in My Head.’ I was captivated by the park’s natural beauty—its wildlife and nature. Most of the samples and sounds in the track come from official field recordings as well as some recordings I captured in the park. It was truly an honor to bring this song to life with the park as a majestic backdrop. I hope you feel what I felt in the park when you listen to the music.”
DAVI JUNO: “We’d love to present our song called ‘Mako Sica,’ which is the Lakota name for the Badlands. This beautiful land, dating back 75 million years, inspired us to write this song. The Badlands are home to one of the world’s richest fossil beds, with colorful layers of rock and protected grassland prairies. It provides habitat for more than 400 species of plants. The flowers and dozens of butterfly species inspired the song, capturing the park’s colorful and lively essence in the music."
French WiFi: “Both of us love Acadia; we’re avid hikers, climbers, and treasure hunters. We immediately knew the type of song we wanted to create. We aimed to make a song perfect for listening to while climbing and hiking. The repetitive cadence of the booming common nighthawk in the field recordings we used was hypnotizing—the exact energy we wanted to establish. We synchronized the bird’s calls with the groove of the drums, and the rest of the song just fell into place.”
Maono: “My track ‘Sundance' was inspired by the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. The rich history of the Indigenous tribes and their profound connection to the landscape captivated me through official field recordings and native-inspired chants. I wanted to take you on a journey through time and immerse you in an enchanting period of the Rocky Mountains.”
pecna: “My song ‘Endless' was inspired by Yosemite National Park. While working on it, my main goal was to capture the park’s dramatic contrast between its vast, beautiful scenery and its various intimate locations. Yosemite is one of the first national parks I’ve visited, so creating a song that captures its unique beauty is a tremendous honor. Nothing beats actually visiting the park in person, but I hope this song gives you a taste of how it feels to visit Yosemite.”
sagun: “My track ‘Red Fox' was inspired by Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone made me feel at home and calm, and reminded me that we are all part of nature. It showed me how nature can change your entire perspective on life. The park was full of life. Animals could be heard from afar, but the one that caught my attention was the sound of a red fox. It sounded like it was calling for a family member. I realized how important communication is, whether we are humans or animals.”
Trankilo: “Visiting Arches National Park was a game changer for my music. The red rocks and open spaces gave me such a chill, reflective vibe. One of the most inspiring experiences was stargazing under the clear night sky. The vastness and serenity of the park at night directly influenced my track ‘Beneath the Stars.’ Walking through those epic landscapes, I felt a deep sense of peace that I try to bring into my music. The beauty and tranquility of Arches really shaped the mellow vibes."
wrongnumber: “The Grand Canyon’s breathtaking vastness have profoundly inspired me. My song 'Till We Meet Again' captures the canyon’s rock cliffs and winding Colorado River, evoking a sense of awe and wonder that I translate into soothing melodies and gentle rhythms. I hope to convey the inspiring majesty of nature and invite listeners to immerse themselves in its serene landscapes, much like standing on the canyon’s edge at sunrise, surrounded by silence and endless horizons."
Sleep Culture: “My song ‘Rialto’ is an ode to Olympic National Park. I was born just outside of Olympic, so using the official field recordings of the native birds from the area felt like coming home. I hope this track inspires you to get outside and experience the beauty that’s all around us, but that we don’t often notice.”
The Tea Shop: “I was inspired by Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park to create my song ‘Skyline" for Arden Records. After spending some time driving along this road, I was captivated by the scenery and beauty. I wanted to put something down that would reflect that grandeur, and we even got access to some field recordings from the National Park Service. You can hear those in the background, whether it’s a stream or a little bit of wind through the trees. I hope you enjoy."
