Ky and Keys (@flavorbehavior) are two sisters living in NYC who love food. Whether eating with friends before a music festival, or dining after seeing a film, these are some of their go-to spots to hit up with your group chat. Updated as of 12/11/24.
Less"It’s co-owned by Nas," says founder Kylah Williams, "so you know the music playing while you brunch is going to be immaculate. Sweet Chick is all about spreading love (it’s the Brooklyn way), and we definitely felt the love from their team working in the store. The Sweet Chick crew is young and super helpful. You won’t just enjoy the chicken and waffles here but you’ll come back for the fire vibes. #sweetchicklife."
"This place got us so hype about eating plant-based. From the painted 'aunt’s et uncles' label on their front window to doubling as a shop, the aesthetic is there. Not only do they serve up bomb plant-based dishes, but you can also purchase sage, plants, tote bags, and books like the Four Agreements. We’d literally chill and eat here all day if we could. Also, the two owners are just as cool."
Our go-to brunch spot every weekend. The biscuits and gravy are next level, with just the right kick of jalapeño spice. The lobster mac and cheese actually delivers on the lobster, making it a must-try. Mimosa towers are perfect for a group, and the ambiance is always on point. It gets packed, so be sure to make a reservation.
One of the most hyped-up restaurants that actually lives up to the hype. The shrimp scampi, jerk chicken, and honey salmon are all standout dishes. Even with vegan options, every slice is loaded with flavor. This place delivers on taste, no matter what you're craving and the slices are HUGE.
CMarty's Jerk is a pop-up in a bar with a fresh spin on classics. The smash burgers are a must-try, but the real game-changer is the Caribbean jerk bánh mì—trust us. Don’t forget the loaded fries, which take indulgence to a whole new level. The perfect spot for a fun, flavorful night out because you can hit the bar, too!
Hands down, the best burger spot in the city (this Brooklyn location is Black-owned) and the place that really put smash burgers on the map in NYC. We love how they keep it simple and affordable—no fuss, just great burgers. Plus, they’re always there when we need them, open super late (think 2 a.m./3 a.m.). It’s our go-to for a quick, reliable bite, but heads up—most spots don’t have seating, so it’s definitely a grab-and-go situation!
Crabby Shack is one of our go-tos for seafood, and they never disappoint. The Crab BLT is a must-try, and the salmon bites are always perfectly cooked. You can tell everything is super fresh, from the seafood to the sides. What really stands out, though, is the staff—they’re super friendly and make you feel right at home. Another spot that definitely doesn’t skimp on the seafood, serving up generous portions and flavor with every bite.
Puff's Patties is where to go if you want juicy beef patties with the flakiest crust. The overload patty stuffed with oxtail mac and coco bread was full of flavor. The first bite we took was literally insane! If you want to keep it simple, the classic beef patty is just as delicious. The ginger pineapple juice was a really refreshing drink to get on the side.
