Here are five places that have been with me through thick and thin, from the worst breakups to the current pandemic. These establishments have been crucial to my survival, and I will protect them at all costs! This is takeout for dummies.
LessThis place is a Koreatown staple, and the portions are fit for royalty on a budget. In my opinion, it’s the best Chinese/Korean restaurant in K-Town. The black bean noodles and fried dumplings are my go-tos. I’ve ruined at least 14 Pro Club white tees at this establishment.
After having my first Jamaican food experience in NYC, I knew I had to find THE spot in L.A., and this was it. The oxtail, beans, and rice with two beef patties. Don’t know how they do it, but it’s just as good delivered.
I’ve been going here since I was eight years old. This is the after-after-party spot, eating a sloppy double chili cheeseburger in the parking lot drunk while a fight may break out. Definitely seen my fair share of French fries being thrown here.
A top-three Korean BBQ spot in Koreatown. The kalbi marinade here is so good! I always judge spots by their side dishes, and they keep it real colorful. I recently made their celebrity wall—just had to flex real quick.
This place will knock you out in the best way possible. The seafood gumbo and blackened catfish get me all the time. Make sure you try their peach beignets afterwards—do I dare to say they’re better than the ones in New Orleans?
