“Palm Springs is like a forgotten city,” DannyLux says. “Most people only think about it around Coachella, but the rest of the year it stays pretty calm.” Born and raised in Palm Springs, the singer-songwriter shares some of his favorite spots.
Less“The Palm Springs Tramway is a great activity to do when visiting Palm Springs. It’s located in the mountains and has a restaurant at the end of the tramway that’s really good; the food there is amazing. You can eat burgers, pasta, and all kinds of food. However, the most awesome thing here is the views. Obviously, if you’re afraid of heights, it can be scary, but it’s pretty sick.”
“The thing about growing up in Palm Springs is that there isn’t a lot to do. However, this is a special place because many kids from around here hang out there with their friends. It’s just a cool meetup spot. I remember in middle school, it’s where I would get all of my clothes. It was such a special place because every time I had some money, I would always go there and just buy the cheapest clothes I could find because that’s all I could afford.”
“This is a recent spot that I’ve been going to. It’s such a good boba spot. It’s right by the mall, so whenever I go there with friends, we always stop by here. The boba is so good here; they have every flavor you can think of. Vanilla chai is my favorite flavor.”
“I have a lot of great memories about this spot. My brother, who is 14 years older than me, used to work here. I remember being a young kid and seeing him in his In-N-Out uniform when he would come home from work. We would visit him at the restaurant after church on Sundays and he would give us free burgers. It was a special feeling. This spot reminds me of my childhood, and it will always have a special place in my heart.”
“Downtown Palm Springs is a great place to visit, especially for tourists. There is a whole strip of things to do, and every Thursday there is a street fair with tons of vendors selling great food. Locals also enjoy coming out for this event every week. I remember going every Thursday with my friends, and we would walk up and down Palm Canyon Drive and have a great time. My favorite place downtown is a restaurant called Lulu’s. They have burgers that I absolutely love. They are so good.”
“There are not a lot of luxury stores in the area, but there are a few high-end stores in El Paseo in Palm Desert. There is a street full of great shopping here. I remember going here with my friends, and we would just walk into the Louis Vuitton store just to see everything. We couldn’t afford to shop here. I’m happy to say that I was able to buy something here recently; I got my mom a bag from here.”
“I used to beg my mom to take me to this place because it’s so much fun. As far as I know, it’s the only trampoline park in the desert. I loved going there with my friends and cousins to bounce around and do flips. We would usually rent a trampoline for two hours, but I would never make it that long because we would get too tired from all the jumping.”
“I was obsessed with skateboarding in middle school. I tried to learn all the tricks and everything. I remember going there for the first time and it felt like Disneyland to me, like I was in heaven. I remember just walking in and stepping foot onto the actual skate park. It was such a great feeling. We had driven by so many times, and skating was something that I really wanted to do. And once I finally went, I just felt so sick. I always loved coming here.”
“We would always go there for a birthday, like my mom’s or dad’s. That was the spot we’d always go to eat. I always ordered the chicken Alfredo. I’m a skinny guy and I don’t eat that much, but at Olive Garden they give you the biggest bowl of pasta and I always finish it completely. I just love it.”
“When you drive into the desert, you will see windmills everywhere. You can actually get pretty close to the windmill parks and take some great pictures. They are pretty scattered around the place, but you can take this road, park your car, and walk into the desert to get pretty close. If you come to the desert to visit, this is a really cool spot to make a stop and get the full experience of the desert.”
