"It's always a good time in New Orleans," says R&B star Ambré about her hometown. "The people are always so joyful here no matter what's going on." These are her favorite NOLA spots.
Less"When in New Orleans, you have to get some good food, some good crawfish, and you have to get some snoballs. This snoball spot is a place that I went to a lot when growing up. A snoball is frozen ice that’s cut up real thin and put in a cup. You can pour sweet syrup over it in different flavors, or you can eat it with condensed milk or ice cream. You can also sprinkle some toppings on top like gummies. It’s a sweet dessert, but it’s also refreshing because it's ice."
"I love fried chicken, and Manchu Food Store has the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life. I always get the chicken with either rice or some fries on the side. It’s the crisp of the fried chicken that makes it so good here. I don’t know what they’re putting in the batter, but the flavor is always so on point. They are regular-sized chicken—nothing GMO here. I feel good about eating it."
"I always tell everyone you have to go to Surrey’s for shrimp and grits. It’s the best in the city and honestly probably the best you’ll ever have."
"StudioBE is a cool place to go to feel a part of the artistic culture of New Orleans."
"You can get the best crawfish in New Orleans here. They also have po' boys and great sauces, but it’s all about the crawfish at North Broad to be honest. Nobody can top it. There’s always a line here. Sometimes it may be long, sometimes it may be short, but there’s pretty much always a line. You go in, order your food, get your take-out, and then you pick a nice spot to eat. You can go to the lake or the park. North Broad Seafood is place where the locals go."
"It’s one of my favorite parks in New Orleans to spend time, especially with a good meal of crawfish. There are beautiful oak trees, and the locals love to come here. Some may be working out or just hanging out. It’s a big park, and there’s always a great vibe here."
"Made In The Hood is my friend Tvche’s store, who opened it about a year ago. It’s downtown and has really cool stuff. It’s all kinds of streetwear with a really cool ghost-like logo—hats, jackets, sweaters. So whenever I come to the city, I go get clothes from him."
"This is like a mini Dave & Busters that’s uptown, right down the street from the house I grew up in. It’s a bar, and you can get food, too. They have pool tables, you can throw darts, and there are arcade basketball games. I go there a lot with my cousin. He always tries to show me how to play pool. I don't really get it, but I still go and show my support."
"You can’t go to New Orleans and not a have daiquiri. There are many great spots to find them here. We have drive-thru daiquiri shops. So you can drive up and order a whole gallon. They have all kinds of different flavors. My favorite flavor is called Victoria Secret. It sneaks up on you because it’s so sweet. It’s a really fruity flavor that I like."
"This is a bar-slash-club-slash-hookah-lounge from Larry Morrow, who owns a lot of businesses in New Orleans. I’ve been a few times and it’s a great spot."
